MIT professor and MTL core faculty member Evelyn Wang will serve as Associate Director of MTL starting September 1 as revealed by MTL Director Jesus del Alamo in an e-mail to the MTL community on July 30, 2015.
Prof. Wang leads a research program at MIT that combines fundamental studies of micro and nanoscale heat and mass transport processes with the development of novel nanostructured materials. Her ultimate goal is to create innovative solutions in thermal management, thermal energy storage, solar-thermal energy conversion and water desalination. Prof. Wang's research heavily leverages the nanofabrication capabilities of MTL where her students prototype photonic crystal thermophotovoltaic cells, magnetically tunable structured surfaces, and chip cooling structures based on nanoporous membranes among many other exciting projects.
Prof. Wang has a B.S. from MIT and a M.S. and PhD from Stanford, all in Mechanical Engineering. She was selected as recipient of DARPA, AFOSR and ONR Young Investigator Awards. Her students have won numerous best paper awards.
Please join us in welcoming Evelyn to MTL's leadership team!
