September 17, 2014

Letter to MTL community from lab director Jesús del Alamo follows.

Dear MTL and EECS colleagues and friends,

It gives me great satisfaction to inform you that our colleague Prof. Dimitri Antoniadis is the recipient of the 2014 Aristotle Award. This award is given by the Semiconductor Research Corporation to "recognize SRC-supported faculty whose deep commitment to the educational experience of SRC students has had a profound and continuing impact on their professional performance and, consequently, a significant impact for members over a long period of time." Dimitri received the award during the banquet of last week's Techcon 2014 (see picture below).

A press release from the SRC announcing the presentation of the Aristotle Award to Dimitri highlights his advising of over 50 graduate students, his reputation for deep knowledge and demanding courses, his founding role in the Microsystems Technology Laboratories, and his leadership in industry consortia, most notably the Center for Materials, Structures and Devices of SRC's Focus Center Research Program.

Dimitri is also praised for launching "student after student on their careers, from numerical modeling of oxidation and diffusion, to computer integrated design and manufacture, to new device modeling ideas, to advanced device concepts like SOI, to the extremes of silicon device technology. The mission is always to stretch boundaries, and to develop the fundamentals upon which varied careers can be built."

Please join me in congratulating Dimitri for this richly deserved award.
