New password policy went into effect on Tuesday, May 23nd
As discussed in the MTL Users Meeting on April 20th, we are implementing a new password policy effective Tuesday, May 23nd. This is due to the fact that we have had a number of breakins in the last few months and we believe that our current password policy is not as strong as it should be. We have also taken other security measures to make the computing environment at MTL more secure, including upgrading our domain controllers to server-level hardware as well as some other changes that would be better left unsaid.
Rolling out the new password policy means that all Windows Domain users will need to choose a new password.
Once you've created a new password, the system will log you in as usual.
We understand that this is an inconvenience and we apologize, but the problem is real and we must do all that we can to protect the computing environment at MTL.
